Ylang Ylang
Overview
Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) is a tall, graceful tree adorned with star-shaped flowers ranging from white to pink and yellow. These exotic blossoms release a fresh, floral, and intoxicatingly sweet aroma, especially when freshly harvested at dawn. The flowers undergo steam distillation, producing ylang ylang oil, prized in aromatherapy and perfumery. Ylang ylang oil is considered superior to its close relative, cananga oil, and the highest quality is sought after by the perfume industry for luxurious fragrances. Native to Southeast Asia, it now flourishes in tropical regions like the Comoro Islands, Java, and Sumatra.
Emotional Effects
Ylang ylang oil is a powerful relaxant, easing anxiety, depression, and stress while stabilising mood swings. It promotes feelings of love, peace, and self-acceptance, making it valuable during emotionally challenging times. The oil stimulates creativity and sensuality, heightens romantic feelings, and encourages emotional calm, fostering deep relaxation and a sense of security.
