Bergamot

Bergamot

Overview

Bergamot, a Rutaceae family member, is a lemon and bitter orange hybrid, Citrus bergamia. This tree, up to sixteen feet tall, has lush green leaves, white star-shaped flowers, and pear-shaped yellow fruit. Mainly grown in the Ivory Coast, Calabria, and Sicily, bergamot yields a pale emerald-green oil with a lemon-orange scent and sweet balsamic undertones.

Emotional Effects

Bergamot oil is refreshing and uplifting, relieving fear, anxiety, depression, and anger by balancing hypothalamus activity. Smelling bergamot stabilises emotions, evokes happiness and joy, and restores self-confidence, especially during sadness or grieving, helping heal emotional wounds.
