Bergamot
Overview
Bergamot, a Rutaceae family member, is a lemon and bitter orange hybrid, Citrus bergamia. This tree, up to sixteen feet tall, has lush green leaves, white star-shaped flowers, and pear-shaped yellow fruit. Mainly grown in the Ivory Coast, Calabria, and Sicily, bergamot yields a pale emerald-green oil with a lemon-orange scent and sweet balsamic undertones.
