Pine
Pine Overview
Majestic Scotch pine trees (Pinus sylvestris), also known as Norway pines, dominate forests with heights of 65 to 115 feet. Their reddish-brown bark is deeply fissured, and clusters of yellow-orange flowers and amber, green, or brown cones adorn the gray-green or blue-green needles. Native to Europe and Asia, this member of the Pinaceae family is prevalent in northern Europe, northeastern Russia, Scandinavia, and the eastern United States. Steam distillation of the tree's needles, twigs, and cones produces pine oil. This colorless or light-yellow oil has an earthy, resinous, and medicinal scent that is strong, fresh, and balsamic. Pine trees in colder climates yield superior oils.
Emotional Effects
Pine oil is refreshing and revitalising, ideal for alleviating general malaise or mental fatigue. It helps restore strength after physical weakness or during convalescence, offering an invigorating boost to both body and mind. This makes pine oil a popular choice for aromatherapy, promoting overall well-being and mental clarity.
